NOTICE TO ALL PARISHIONERS -
This past week several parishioners and parish staff
members reported to me that they had received bogus
emails from “Fr. John Paul Alvarado” presenting an
emergency situation and asking for gifts cards and cash
to be sent immediately. Online thieves have discovered
long ago that church groups are easy targets and using
the pastor’s name is the way to get to the “flock” and
isolate their victims, preying on the “sheep” one-by-one.
Please know that I would never send you a personal
message asking that you personally send money to me.
Emergencies happen and because of your generosity to
our parish ministries like Social Concerns and our
diocesan Catholic Charities supported by the Bishop’s
Annual Appeal, I have the needed resources (people and
funds) to assist those in need. You make this possible.
This is not meant to be a sales pitch, but in reality — your
generosity to the parish and the diocese is a safety net for
many in need and a guard for us all — the flock is safe
and cared for when we serve each other in Jesus’ name.
Stand together, pray together and don’t fall prey to those
who would separate you. If you have fallen victim to this
scam or know others who have, please notify the police of
this cyber theft. Carefully check similar suspicious emails
for spelling and grammatical errors. These are red flags!
BE AWARE!!!
